Today's possibilities of modern telecommunication systems go far beyond mere telephony: DECT telephones are becoming locatable personal emergency signaling devices, telephone conferences are becoming more powerful and easier to use, IP networks are supplementing and replacing classic infrastructures, and instant telephone accessibility enables the establishment of security-relevant systems.

Many of these tasks are solved by the Digital Alarm and Communication Server, called DAKS or (in connection with Unify OpenScape PBXs OpenScape Alarm Response for short: OScAR).
